This week, the Shotokan Ohshima Dojo celebrates its 25th anniversary — a quarter century of dedication, discipline, and the harmony that Tsutomu Ohshima Sensei envisioned.
From its breathtaking mountain backdrop to the sweeping Pacific views, the dojo stands as a global gathering place for SKA members to train, connect, and continue the legacy.
My Role in the Celebration
When I was asked to design the official 44-page anniversary program, I knew this was more than a design project.
It was a responsibility — to create a piece that would capture the spirit of the dojo and serve as a keepsake members would treasure.
Over weeks of collaboration, I worked closely with SKA leaders, weaving together stories, tributes, photographs, and history. Every font choice, every image placement, every page turn was intentional — designed to balance elegance, readability, and emotional resonance.
